1. Glycine from bone broth may reduce oxidative stress linked to pre-eclampsia
Animal studies indicate that glycine, an amino acid abundant in bone broth, helps reduce oxidative stress—a key feature of pre-eclampsia. Moreover, women with pre-eclampsia often excrete less glycine, suggesting increased demand or depletion. Rich sources include connective tissue and bone-based foods.goldcoastdoulas.com
2. Collagen plays a structural and immunological role at the maternal-fetal interface
Collagen is a major component of the extracellular matrix in pregnancy and is integral to tissue remodeling at the maternal-fetal interface. Abnormal collagen expression has been linked to pathological conditions such as pre-eclampsia. Supporting collagen in the diet may, therefore, help promote normal tissue integrity and pregnancy progression.PMC
3. Bone broth is a mineral-rich, anti-inflammatory support
Bone broth supplies essential minerals—like calcium, magnesium, iron, and potassium—alongside protein and collagen. These nutrients support immune health, blood pressure regulation, and overall maternal wellness, which are crucial in reducing inflammation and complications associated with pre-eclampsia.nationalgeographic.commdanderson.org
